We need your support in fighting against Meta! Please sign and spread the word about our Open Letter!
In recent weeks, Meta (Facebook / Instagram) has removed the accounts of several UK organisations involved in psychedelic research, policy, and harm reduction. Additionally, they have banned or suspended the personal accounts of individuals working in this field.
Affected organisations include PsyAware, Breaking Convention, Psilocybin Access Rights (PAR), The Psychedelic Society, and the documentary film page for The Psychedelic Chronicles, amongst others.
UPDATE: Fortunately, due to connections we have at Meta, we have been able to have many of the accounts re-instated. However, it is still problematic, in that organisations have lost their accounts for days / weeks, but furthermore, the system should be equitable for all, and not rely on connections to people working in the company.

Dear Meta,
Over the past few weeks, a number of Facebook and Instagram accounts of psychedelic research, policy and harm reduction organisations have been shut down, as well as the accounts of individuals working in the field.
Whilst psychedelics remain illegal in large parts of the world, there are legal clinical trials taking place with psychedelic medicines globally. Furthermore, there are important societal conversations about drug policy in relation to psychedelics. Finally, even amongst those who use psychedelics in non-clinical environments, there is a need for comprehensive healthcare and harm reduction information
We ask that you reinstate all of the social media accounts affected by this action. Furthermore, we ask that you revisit your policies of using artificial intelligence and computer algorithms to assess & remove drug content and ban users, as it appears currently unable to distinguish the supply of illegal substances from conversations about research, policy and harm reduction. At the very least, in cases where drug content is taken down, there should be the option to appeal the action to a panel of people who are able to differentiate between the sale of drugs and appropriate content about psychedelics.
The content you have removed was not in breach of your policies, and removing it causes unnecessary disruption and censorship to important societal organisations working around psychedelic medicines.
We hope you will take the actions we suggest and look forward to hearing from you.
